Annual Maag Toy Foundation Golf Outing
OAK BROOK, IL - The 19th Annual Maag Toy Foundation Golf Outing will take place in Oak Brook, IL on July 27th 2009. The Maag Toy Foundation was founded by Al Maag, the co-Founder of the Chicago 16 Inch Hall of Fame. Here is more information about this years event...
We all know the world is in an economic crisis, and that proverbial light at the end of the tunnel seems pretty far away right now. Its bad everywhere and asking you to invest in anything at this time might seem unreasonable. But we must ask because there are kids counting on us, and when it comes to kids in need its just too hard to turn our backs. But we can not do it alone and we need your help.
Since 1991 the Maag Toy Foundation (MTF) has been on a quest to bring smiles, laughter and a small break to kids who could really use it. And with the help and generosity of folks just like you we have been succeeding. We have raised more than $480,000 and distributed more than 6,300 toys to kids who do not have a lot to smile about. You can help again...tots, teens and babies who are victims of circumstance, and far less well off than our own offspring can use your support. They face tough challenges for sure, and we probably ca not change their lives. What we can do is supply a toy, game, book or movie to lighten up their world and, for a little while, make them forget the issues that weigh them down. This is where we (and you) come in. By bringing a toy and possibly an item to donate for auction, you really can make a difference. Donations, sponsorships, auctions and toys are the only way we generate profits for the kids. We never make money from the golf, food or beverage fees, and none of us has ever taken a salary. Thats not how we roll.
We are now enjoying our 19th year in Illinois and 9th in Arizona. Last year donations were made to the Hesed House, Home of the Sparrow, Casa Esperanza, Blind Childrens Foundation, MDA, Hinsdale Wellness, Angel Tree, Infant Welfare Society, Cornerstone Community, Mercy Home for Boys and Girls, Catholic Charities, the Cannata scholarship fund and a new one -- we sent one old kid, a WWII vet, to see the World War II Memorial in Washington, DC. Our favorite pizza place, Rosatis, sponsored a toy drive for an entire town in Mexico and we helped! And for years the toys we have collected have gone to the local shelters and St Joan of Arc through Boy Scout Troop 99. We also helped over three dozen individual families (some who work at Avnet), who experienced a variety of troubles and were not receiving assistance from any other group. And we love helping teens experience events we took for granted...Prom night, Fans Across America events, and approx 100 teens went to see the Harlem Globetrotters, D Backs, Cubs and Coyotes games, to name a few.
In addition to supporting similar programs for the last nine years in Arizona, we are also sending 20 children to school in Tanzania, Africa. Its extremely gratifying to now be able to add education to the list of things we are able to give kids, thanks to you. And the number of children and teens we are able to help just keeps growing.
Take it from us, outings are a wonderful way to help the little ones in need. So buy some stock in MTF by joining us to play golf or just come for dinner. Actually, about 50% of our attendees just come for the reception/program. So bring a toy…your investment will pay off in camaraderie, networking, and laughter. You will also be making a difference in the life of a child and that is a substantial gain in any market.
We thank Avnet for hosting our event again, and hope to see you there.
